Spring Bird Watching Walk at Blue Mountains Garden Mount Tomah

Join local birding guide Eric Finley on a morning walk to see some of the Gardens beautiful birds and learn about their habitats.

Eric has useful tips on how to use your binoculars to spot birds, look for typical Blue Mountains species and identify birds by appearance and calls. Begin the walk before the Garden opens and the birds are at their most active. Participants will be sent a bird sightings list created by Eric as a record of all species you saw on the day.

Eric has seen nearly 300 species of birds in the Hawkesbury-Blue Mountains area, including rarities like the Regent Honeyeater and Australasian Bittern. He walks with local Landcare and community groups to help develop local knowledge of the area’s birds and their habitats.

‘The Gardens are located in one of the richest and most exciting bird regions in Australia – surrounded by the vast forests of the Blue Mountains and Wollemi National Parks, the Hawkesbury floodplains to the east, and the majestic Capertee and Wolgan Valleys to the northwest. Any day you venture out into this incredible region, you never know what you might see and discover’.

Participants to bring walking shoes, sunhat, sunscreen, bottle of water, raincoat for light rain, binoculars. (camera optional)
