Forty years ago The Phantom of the Opera burst onto the West End, becoming a sensation unlike anything the world had ever seen, with hits including ‘The Music of the Night’, ‘All I Ask of You’, ‘Masquerade’ and the unforgettable title song.
Celebrate Phantom’s milestone anniversary in grand style, with the hotly anticipated return of this larger-than-life staging under the stars.
With themed pop-up bars and dining, fireworks every night, and a live orchestra hidden beneath the stage, this is an evening you’ll never forget.

Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: Phantom of the Opera is presented by Opera Australia and is an iconic Sydney annual event. With a magnificent stage on the water in Farm Cove, an event village based at Fleet Steps, and featuring fireworks every night, Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour will be a night to remember.
Held from 27 March – 3 May 2026, performances are every night except Mondays and Good Friday. Ticket holders can access the event site from 5.00 pm for a 7.30 pm performance start time.

The event is situated at Fleet Steps in the Yurong Precinct of the Domain.
For visitor safety and event purposes, the Farm Cove sea wall path will be closed from the Yurong Gate between the following dates and times:
- Bump in & opening night: 3 March to 27 March 2026 – Sea wall path closed all day and night.
- Performance days: 28 March to 3 May 2026 – Sea wall path closed from 4.30 pm to 12.00 am (except Mondays & Good Friday)
- Bump out phase: 4 May to 17 May 2026 – Sea wall path closed all day and night

We encourage patrons to use public transport to and from the event:
- Train: exit via St James, Martin Place or Circular Quay
- Ferry: walk to The Domain from Circular Quay
- Bus: for timetables, maps and trip planning visit www.transportnsw.info
- Taxi: Mrs Macquarie’s Road will be accessible for patrons travelling by taxi and taxis will be called at the conclusion of the performance to the entrance of the event on Mrs Macquarie’s Road. To reduce congestion, patrons are encouraged to catch the free Shuttle bus (see below) and then catch a taxi from surrounding areas.
- Shuttle bus: The free pre-performance shuttle service starts at 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm and will loop from venue entrance on Mrs Macquaries Road to the Domain Car Park. The free post-performance shuttle service starts from 8:45 pm until midnight.
Please note the following traffic changes will occur:
Road Closures
No road closures, however there may be some traffic delays during peak ingress and egress. The performances start at 7.30 pm and finish approximately 10.15 pm.
Gate Closures
Bump in & bump out phase: Yurong Gate to remain closed throughout this period, pedestrians diverted through Victoria Lodge Gate.
Footpath Closures ie Sea Wall walkway
Bump in & bump out phase: There will be no public access along the Sea Wall or Fleet Steps during bump in & bump out phases. Yurong Gate to remain closed throughout bump in/out, pedestrians to be diverted through Victoria Lodge Gate
Event season: Access will be maintained along the Sea Wall until approximately 4.30 pm.

Limited metered parking is available on Mrs Macquaries Road and the Domain Carpark (operated by Wilson Parking). For prices visit: www.domaincarpark.com.au.

An event drop off zone will be operational on Mrs Macquaries Road each event night near the entrance to Fleet Steps.

Sound checks and rehearsals for this event will be carried out intermittently from 16 March to 24 March 2026 between 1.00 pm and 11.00 pm.
During performance days (from 27 March to 3 May), sound checks will take place intermittently from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm and event sound will commence from 5.00 pm until 11.00 pm. Fireworks will take place nightly at each performance at approx. 8.45pm for approx 30 seconds (note fireworks time subject to change). This production contains sudden loud noises, simulated gun shots, themes of violence, pyrotechnics and depictions of hanging.
