Join cartoonist and writer Jess Harwood for a free creative workshop

Ahead of National Tree Day, join cartoonist and writer Jess Harwood for a free creative workshop at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, presented as part of the Botanic Gardens of Sydney Writers in Residence program.

In this hands-on session, Jess will guide participants through the process of scripting a short comic story and making their own nature-inspired zine - a simple, playful and accessible way to self-publish writing and art.

The workshop will begin with a guided walk through the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, where participants can gather inspiration from the Garden’s amazing plant life before returning to create their zines. No drawing skills are required - just bring your creativity, curiosity and a sense of fun.

The workshop is suitable for adults and children. Children who would like to participate must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by an adult. The workshop will run for approximately two hours and all zine-making materials will be provided.

Places are limited and registrations are essential.

Please note: If you require step-free access to the Maiden Theatre or are unable to use stairs, please email [email protected] in advance so our team can assist. The nearest accessible bathrooms are located at Farm Cove Eatery, approximately 250 metres away from the event venue.
