Botany for Beginners: Identifying NSW Plant Families
Join this 90-minute workshop for plant enthusiasts and amateur botanists and learn how to identify some of NSW’s most iconic and common plant families. Through looking carefully at plants in the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan's Living Collection we will together identify key plant characteristics and traits, including specific details of flowers, fruits, and leaves.
We will look at examples of:
- Myrtaceae – includes eucalypts and bottlebrushes
- Proteaceae – includes banksias and grevilleas
- Fabaceae – includes peas and wattles
- Asteraceae – includes paper daisies
- Ferns and other non-flowering plants
Gain practical skills that will help you better understand and recognise plants in gardens, bushland and everyday landscapes.
This outdoor program includes walking on uneven terrain.
Recommended for ages 16+.
