Celebrate 110 years at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
The Herb Garden Pavilion is located directly behind the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. It is the ideal location for presenting this new work which is a celebration of 110 years at the SCM and springtime in the Gardens.
Biotropism – a botanic rendering is a new work combining Daniel Blinkhorn’s electronic art, percussion samples and field recordings taken during a residency at the Aurthur Boyd Bundanon Homestead with Daryl Pratt’s live performance on extended vibraphone and percussion. Central to this piece is how we can uncover time–tested patterns and innovations developed by nature as a basis for compositional models. The principles of biomimetics enable us to learn directly from nature, implanting innovative, environmental systems into musical structures using new techniques, concepts and technologies. It is our hope that, through our compositional and performative crafts we will bolster much needed awareness for the importance of living in concert with our increasingly fragile, ever diminishing ecosystems. (D Pratt & D Blinkhorn).
