NSW Flora Online (PlantNET) is a botanical database that contains keys, taxonomic descriptions and images of plants found in New South Wales.

The database’s aim is to act as an online resource for people to search for plant species, using search features including:

  • Search by plant name using either a scientific name (family, genus, species) or a common name.

  • Browse index of plant names, including synonyms, introduced plants, or rare or threatened plants.

  • The spatial search feature lists names for a specified area of New South Wales  based on specimens lodged at the National Herbarium of New South Wales.

  • Traditional dichotomous identification keys based on Flora of New South Wales volumes (books now out of print).

  • Discuss the classification of flowering plants used at the National Herbarium of New South Wales.

  • Cite the Glossary of Botanical Terms used in FloraOnline.
