Phillip Precinct Lawns Renovation

The Botanic Gardens of Sydney will be undertaking improvement works to enhance drainage and ground conditions at the Phillip Precinct lawn area (DL10a) in The Domain. These works form part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining high‑quality, safe, and resilient green spaces for public enjoyment.

The upgrades will improve the lawn’s ability to recover more quickly after wet weather, reduce ongoing maintenance requirements, and support increased community use of the area over the longer term.

The works are scheduled to commence in May 2026 and are expected to be completed by late June 2026, weather permitting. Following construction, a six‑week turf establishment period will be required. During this time, the lawn will be temporarily unavailable for events and sporting activities to ensure the best possible outcome for the turf and its long‑term durability.

The Botanic Gardens of Sydney appreciates the community’s cooperation during this period and will provide updates as the works progress to help minimise disruption and support continued enjoyment of the Domain.
