Aboriginal Education Officers will guide students through a learning journey of the culture and history of the Dharawal Nation and people.

Students will

  • Discover the amazing ways that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples shared their stories, knowledge and culture through dance, music, art and more. 
  • See and touch examples of different tools and weapons and understand how they have been used for thousands of years.
  • Explore the Connections Garden, where you will find many native plants that were important for the Aboriginal people’s survival and well-being.

Key content

  • Appreciate the connections that Aboriginal people have with their country.
  • Touch, taste and smell native plants used for food, medicine, weapons, tools and shelter.
  • Experience activities that Aboriginal people undertake in order to create strong connections with culture and the land.
  • Gain a First Nations perspective on key events in Australian history.
  • Explore the significance of artefacts used by the Dharawal people.

Students will examine a wide variety of local native plants which were integral in the life of First Nations people.
