Total Solar Eclipse in 2028
Calling all tour operators: join us for an experience like no other as a total solar eclipse passes over Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

Royal Botanic Garden Sydney
22 July 2028
Experience the path of totality above Sydney Harbour
On 22 July 2028, Australia will witness a total solar eclipse for the first time in 171 years.
Royal Botanic Garden Sydney sits directly in the path of totality, where the moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, blocking all direct sunlight and turning day into darkness.
This rare astronomical event has not been seen here since 1857. From the Garden, the eclipsed sun will be able to be viewed above the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House for a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
To make this occasion unforgettable, selected areas of the Garden will be available for private hire through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process. If you’d like to secure a private viewing space for your organisation, please complete this form (PDF)(104.17 KB) and send it to [email protected]
All EOIs and bookings will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and incomplete forms may result in delays or inability to confirm reservations.
Royal Botanic Garden Sydney will remain open to visitors, and public viewing of the eclipse may be available in unreserved areas. Stay informed and get the latest updates by subscribing to our newsletter.
