Witness the high-stakes work of conservation and restoration
Botanic Gardens of Sydney is partnering with the 2026 Festival of Dangerous Ideas to offer this excursion.
Amidst the hills, lakes and flower beds of the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan sit two facilities safeguarding us against a desolate future. Inside the National Herbarium of New South Wales, a world-renowned collection of 1.4 million specimens, and in the state-of the-art vaults of the PlantBank, native seeds are stored as an insurance policy against extinction in the wild. Witness the high-stakes work of conservation and restoration, as scientists race against time to preserve species on the brink.
Includes return transport from Sydney’s Central Station, tours of each facility and a relaxed dining experience with pre-ordered catering.
