The event takes place from 1pm to 9pm on Saturday 25 October. It is an 18+ event and up to 16,000 patrons are expected to attend.

Which areas of the Domain / Garden are impacted by this event and when?

The event will occupy the Phillip Precinct of the Domain from 20 October to 29 October 2025. 

I am not attending the event, will I still be able to access the Domain / Garden on the event day/s?

Yes, the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney will be open as normal.

While Oktoberfest takes place in the Phillip Precinct of the Domain and this area will be fenced from 20 October to 29 October 2025, other parts of the Domain ie. The Crescent Precinct, Tarpeian Precinct and Yurong Precinct will remain open as normal

What will the traffic and access impacts be?

We encourage patrons to use public transport to and from the event:

  • Train: exit via St James, Martin Place or Circular Quay
  • Ferry: walk to The Domain from Circular Quay
  • Bus: for timetables, maps and trip planning visit www.transportnsw.info

Road Closures

Art Gallery Road will be closed to inbound traffic from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm on Saturday 25 October (vehicles are able to exit, except during main pedestrian egress periods).

Wider Sydney CBD closures may be implemented from 8.00 pm to facilitate egress as per Police operations, please visit www.livetraffic.com and click on major events.

Footpath Closures

Phillip Path and Central Ave will be closed from 7am on 20 October until 6pm on 29 October 2025. 
Arbor Day Walk will be closed on event day only from midday on Saturday 25 October until midnight on Sunday 26 October 2025.

Parking restrictions / parking availability

Limited metered parking is available on site and at the Domain Car Park (operated by Wilson Parking). For prices visit: Domain Car Park

Mobility Pass Holder access

A dedicated event drop off zone will be operational on Saturday 25 October located on Hospital Road near the corner of Art Gallery Road. Parking is available at Domain car park with lift access to the Crescent precinct which is adjacent to the event site.

A dedicated mobility pick up zone will be operational on Saturday 25 October located on St Mary’s Rd and access is via the east.

Will the Terrace / Botanic Restaurant be open as usual?

Yes. 

Will the Garden Shop still be operating?

Yes.

Will Bar Coco still be operating?

Yes. 

Will there be any sound impacts related to this event?

Sound checks will be carried out on Saturday 25 October between 11am and 1pm followed by event sound from 1pm to 9pm.
